The use of Gabbroic clay from the Lizard Peninsula in pottery for 5000 years from the Neolithic period to the Norman Conquest is unique practice in the UK. Since this discovery in the 1970s much work has been done to investigate where is was from, who used it and why they used it. I have been diving deeper into these questions and have found that there were three or four difference source locations frequented on the Lizard and that it could be specific to individual communities across Cornwall.
