Carvossa geophysical survey – Volunteers needed!

Written by |

During the weekend of 24th and 25th June, CAS trustee and geophysical survey expert, Pete Nicholas is planning to survey land at Carvossa. It is an area of land that needs to be gridded. To enable this survey to take place Pete needs the help of CAS members.  It will be a survey using a magnetometer which records the strength and change in the magnetic field underground. Consequently, clothing must not contain metal. Should yours do so, you may still volunteer and help staking out the grid. If you are interested in volunteering, could you please contact Pete in the first instance by emailing him on petemnic@outlook.com.

There is rain forecast overnight and up to about 10.00 hrs on Saturday morning so we will meet on-site between 10.30 hrs and 11.00 hrs.

The location is BNG SW 92000, 48310, this is a road junction with the lane to Carvossa Farm, from where we will move to nearby field where we can park, this will be adjacent to the survey site.

Hopefully the weather will remain fine and although it will be cooler than the last couple of days it will still be warm so you will need to bring water or a similar drink and sunscreen. There are no nearby facilities so you will also need food.

Should you not be able to contact Pete but would like to take part, please just turn up at the stated time and place.

A second survey is planned at Talland Bay from Tuesday 25th July to Saturday 29th July. This will be a resistivity survey and so there will be no dress restrictions. Again to register interest and to gather more information, please contact Peter Nicholas.
