Ben Sumpter, co-owner of Cornwall Underground Adventures, has ventured deep into the archives and underground workings to research Cornwall’s fascinating mining heritage. Using historical and archaeological approaches, he is able to paint a vivid, accurate picture of mining methods and life underground.

Bio: Ben is a researcher, entrepreneur and explorer. Since 2019, he is co-owner of Cornwall Underground Adventures and works as research consultant at Sumpter Mining Services, specialising in historic land interests and mineral rights. Whilst not at work, Ben is a keen caver which has lead to a life-long fascination with exploring what remains of Cornwall’s historic mines underground, and recording finds for future achaeological investigation.
