Tin in Antiquity: Deciphering the oldest Greek and Roman sources of Devon & Cornwall’s tin trade. A talk with the Trevithick Society on July 12th with Ben Sumpter.

The earliest literate travellers to the British Isles whose texts have survived frequently mention tinworking in connection with Devon & Cornwall. What can studying these texts tell us about the patterns of proto-historic tin trade under the Romans, during the Iron Age and potentially even earlier during the bronze age itself?

Talk hosted at 07.30 pm King Edward Mine, Troon, Camborne, TR14 6BW. Entry is £2 or free for Trevithick Society members.
