This is a celebration of all the artistic interpretations of the Penwith landscape over these past four years. This project has engaged with painters, illustrators, photographers, textile artists and film makers of all ages and abilities. Artists have flocked to West Cornwall since the early 19th century, drawn by the rugged topography and unique quality of light which hits the gloom on the grey.
There are some incredible art-works to display including those from Amanda Richardson and Sara Bevan who have created an outstanding collection showcasing the depth and diversity of Penwith nature. Richardson and Bevan have worked together for a year observing and artistically documenting the changes in the same hedge near Land’s End. They have observed changes of weather, wild flowers, shadows and soil conditions; all telling a seasonal story of the Cornish Hedge.
The exhibition is at The Miner’s Chapel in St Just and is running every day between Tuesday 16 August and Saturday 27 August. 10-4 Mon-Sat, 12-4 Sun. Join us and do spread the word!
