Archaeological Cruises Around the Fal River

Fal River Cornwall are running special guided boat cruises on the history and archaeology around the Fal river. These tours will be running in July and August, being led by local expert Jeanette Ratcliffe from Heritage Adventures, who brings the river’s fascinating past to life. Refreshments and toilet facilities are available on board, with an upper and lower deck open to all.

The tours:

  • Creekside Archaeology Cruise on Thursday, 6 July, explores the Fal’s upper reaches and tucked-away sites. This fascinating cruise departs the Prince of Wales Pier at 6.30pm and returns at 9pm.
  • Around the Estuary Mouth on Friday, 4 August, explores the historic ports and forts along the Penryn and Percuil Rivers and Pendennis and St Anthony headlands. This wonderful evening cruise departs the Prince of Wales Pier at 6.30pm and returns at 9pm.
  • A Tale of Two Rias on Sunday, 27 August, explores the stunning Fal and Helford from submerged forests, cliff castles, forts, ports and mines and a Frenchman’s Creek. While away this bank holiday Sunday afternoon with a 2pm departure from the Prince of Wales Pier, returning at 5.30pm.
