SUMMARY:Twelve Men’s Moor\, North Hill and Linkinhorne led by Pete Herrin
 g and Carolyn Kennett
DESCRIPTION:Please note that all walks now require advance booking\, with a
maximum number restricted to 30. This is due in part to health and safety
concerns\, as we often walk in difficult conditions\, both weather and te
rrain.\n\nIf you would like to join a walk please contact the coordinator
of the CAS Events Group\, Mike Attwell\, via the email address events@corn
isharchaeology.org.uk. Bookings will be accepted from the 1st of August. W
e will be trialling an online ticketing system later this year and the pro
cess should morph seamlessly from booking via emails to ticketing.\n\nAugu
st 16\, Twelve Men’s Moor\, North Hill and Linkinhorne.\nLed by Pete Her
ring and Carolyn Kennett\, 10.30 to c 16.30. Places can be booked from 1 A
ugust.\n\nMeet at the end of the road by Bowdanoddon at SX 2584 7583\; W3W
///cleanest.develops.rashers. As usual on the Moor\, bring a layer extra
to what you think you need\, and sturdy waterproof boots (and clothes!). A
lso bring lunch.\n\nAn ancient common\, with many prehistoric remains (lon
 g cairn\, round cairns\, roundhouses and fields\, cists\, propped stones a
nd more) and in good condition because of its long history of pastoral use
. Transhumance huts too. Some interesting industrial impositions\, includi
ng mining and granite quarrying\, and the extension of the Liskeard and Ca
radon Railway that served them\, now all evocatively abandoned\, with the
exception of Bearah granite quarry. The Victorian fleur des lys markings t
hat warned stone-splitters off the valued tors and logan stones. A beautif
ul\, elevated world. We will weave around the glorious granite outcrops of
Trewortha\, Kilmar\, Bearah and Sharp Tors\, and so see the three cairns
of Langstone Downs. If time allows\, we may step over the Withey Brook to
look around Little Siblyback on Newel Tor\, with its roundhouses and postm
edieval farmstead.\n\nBooking will be essential (see above).\n\n[caption i
