Cornish Archaeology Online – Archaeology on Scilly, developing perspectives from recent work with Henrietta Quinnell

Our understanding of Scillonian prehistory has been altered recently by excavations at Old Quay, St Martin’s, and by radiocarbon dating of Knackyboy Cairn cremations. How should we now interpret the islands’ chronology and the degree of contact with the mainland, especially when informed by the study of pottery both in prehistory and ‘Roman’ period’?

Bio: Henrietta joined Exeter University in 1970 as Extra-Mural Tutor in Archaeology. She served on the CAS Committee for nearly 50 years and is now an Honorary Vice-President. She has worked extensively on the prehistory of the South West.

Cornish Archaeology Online is a series of talks that is open to all. Talks will take place over Zoom and will explore Archaeology in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.
