Cornish Archaeology Online – ‘What have the Romans ever done for Roche?’ with Sean Taylor

When

February 28, 2023
7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Cornwall Archaeological Unit (CAU) have undertaken archaeological mitigation work on the new Link Road bypassing Roche. Expected finds based on previous work (geophysical survey and evaluation) included a number of ring-ditches and a Roman camp. However, the work revealed a much larger range of sites than expected, including an Early Neolithic longhouse, a Neolithic enclosure, Late Neolithic pits and post-ring, possible Bronze Age barrows, an early Romano-British roundhouse, a Roman fortlet (in addition to the camp), and late-/post-Roman structures, as well as a number of early roads. The talk will give a brief summary of each site.

Cornish Archaeology Online is a series of talks that is open to all. Talks will take place over Zoom and will explore Archaeology in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.

The lecture will begin at 7PM with access from 6:50PM. No registration will be required for this session, though entry is limited to the first 100 attendees. Joining details below:
