Cornish Archaeology Online – The 1960s/70s excavations of the Tregiffian entrance grave in West Penwith with Henrietta Quinnell

This West Penwith entrance grave was excavated by Dorothy Dudley and Arthur ApSimon some 50 years ago but not published. After ApSimon’s death, English Heritage loaned his archive to Henrietta Quinnell and with Andy M Jones a British Academy/Leverhume grant was obtained for radiocarbon dating. The lecture will discuss the results of the excavation and the significance the dating which confirmed use within the 2nd millennium BC, synchronous with other entrance graves in the Early/Middle Bronze Age.

Cornish Archaeology Online is a series of talks that is open to all. Talks will take place over Zoom. The lecture will begin at 7PM with access from 6:50PM. No registration will be required for this session, though entry is limited to the first 100 attendees.
