This lecture will be focused on Devon and parts of Somerset and the use of aerial techniques (photography and LIDAR) to identify archaeological sites.
Bio: Horner moved to Devon from Yorkshire in 1984 to study Ancient History & Archaeology at the University of Exeter. From 1987 he worked as an archaeologist on the Somerset Levels Project and on the Somerset Sites & Monuments Register. In 1991 Bill joined Devon County Council. Since then he has worked in planning, land management advice and has managed and facilitated various survey and research projects. From 2011 Bill has been County Archaeologist for Devon and is currently President of Devon Archaeological Society. Horner’s familiarity with the Cornish landscape has developed through his ongoing role on the officer panel of the Cornwall & West Devon Mining Landscape World Heritage Site and Tamar Valley AONB (Area of Outstanding National Beauty).

The lecture will begin at 7PM with access from 6:50PM. No registration will be required for this session, though entry is limited to the first 100 attendees.
