DESCRIPTION:Jackie is an archaeologist specialising in human remains\, buri
 al archaeology and cremation as well as being the principle osteoarchaeolo
 gist of Wessex Archaeology. Her lecture will cover cremation as a mortuary
  rite (not only in the context of burial)\, the relationship between the d
 ead and the living\, the interpretive value of cremation regarding past so
 cial organisation and identity\, and the periods associated with cremation
  as a custom. Another theme touched on will be the effects of investigatin
 g and processing cremation samples during post-excavation.\n\nArchaeology 
 Online is a series of talks that is open to all. Talks will take place ove
 r Zoom. The lecture will begin at 7PM with access from 6:50PM. No registra
 tion will be required for this session\, though entry is limited to the fi
 rst 100 attendees.\n\n
