SUMMARY:Archaeology On-Line - Down to Earth: From Aerial Reconnaissance to 
 Excavation with Bill Horner
DESCRIPTION:This lecture will be focused on Devon and parts of Somerset and
  the use of aerial techniques (photography and LIDAR) to identify archaeol
 ogical sites.\n\nBio: Horner moved to Devon from Yorkshire in 1984 to stud
 y Ancient History &amp\; Archaeology at the University of Exeter. From 198
 7 he worked as an archaeologist on the Somerset Levels Project and on the 
 Somerset Sites &amp\; Monuments Register. In 1991 Bill joined Devon County
  Council. Since then he has worked in planning\, land management advice an
 d has managed and facilitated various survey and research projects. From 2
 011 Bill has been County Archaeologist for Devon and is currently Presiden
 t of Devon Archaeological Society. Horner's familiarity with the Cornish l
 andscape has developed through his ongoing role on the officer panel of th
 e Cornwall &amp\; West Devon Mining Landscape World Heritage Site and Tama
 r Valley AONB (Area of Outstanding National Beauty).\n
