SUMMARY:2023 Walk Programme - The Tin Coast of St Just-in-Penwith led by Le
 onard Phillips
DESCRIPTION:We will walk westwards along the dramatic and history-laden coa
 st from Pendeen and Geevor to Ballowall and then into St Just to catch the
  bus back to the start\, aiming to get back to Pendeen at around 4pm (depe
 nding on bus times). Approximately 8 kilometres\, or 5 miles\, of uneven a
 nd exposed terrain\, including industrial complexes.\n\nThis walk will be 
 led by Leonard Phillips\, MBE. Leonard spent most of his working life in t
 he Royal Navy and the Home Office\, retiring from RNAS Culdrose in 2013. H
 e became a guide for the National Trust\, first at Godolphin before spendi
 ng seven years on the Tin Coast\, ceasing when Covid struck.\n\nStarting a
 t 10:30 am at the free car park in Pendeen village (opposite the Costcutte
 r shop\, SW 3832 3436\, or What3Words: resonates.lure.stood).\n\nWe will m
 ake our way to the coast and Lower Boscaswell tin mine and mill\, Geevor m
 ine and then Levant Mine via North Levant. There are numerous mines here\,
  a famous part of the Cornish Mining Landscape World Heritage Site\, and w
 e will also see Wheals Cock\, Chicken\, Hen and Tolvan before stopping for
  lunch at the National Trust café at Botallack Count House.\n\nOn to Whea
 l Edward on then into the Kenijack Valley visiting the Wheel pit and the A
 rsenic calciner. We will check progress and if there’s sufficient time w
 ill visit Cape Cornwall and Ballowall cairn before walking into the indust
 rial town of St Just to catch our bus.\n\nThis walk will also be advertise
 d to members of the Trevithick Society\n\n
