Boden prehistoric settlement – Archaeological dig and finds day

Sat 4th August 2018

Meneage Archaeology Group (MAG) has been investigating the prehistoric fogou and ancient settlement at Boden since 2008. This year they will be hosting another open day where visitors will be able to see MAG’s most recent discoveries and see the rediscovered Iron Age ‘fogou’ (one of Cornwall’s unique underground prehistoric passages). If you want to get your hands dirty, you can also lend a hand with excavating the site – no previous experience necessary!

The artefacts from the excavation will also be on display, revealing the secrets of this exciting site. James Gossip from Cornwall Archaeological Unit will be on hand to answer questions, and if you have any found objects you would like identified, please bring them along to show our finds expert.

Children are welcome, if accompanied by an adult. The event is free to attend and there is no need to book. From Manaccan take the road to Gillan, past the New Inn, down the hill and then second turning on the right and follow local signs. Post Code for Sat Navs is TR12 6EN
