Prehistorian Dave Williams will lead us to Kit Hill’s neolithic longbarrow and a selection of round barrows including, with the permission of the landowner, to outside the Country Park and the beginning of the run of barrows along Hingston Down to the east. There is also a possible co-axial field system on the north-east slopes.
Historian Stephen Docksey will point out three enigmatic circular features on the western sloped and Sir John Call’s Folly on the summit.
Meet above the entrance car park (3835 7130). Bring packed lunch; wear suitable clothing and footwear for moorland walking – the summit is 1094 feet and the hill is exposed, with little shelter.
